Conservation in Wapichan Wiizi

To ensure that our Wapichan voices are heard on the international stage at COP30, we are taking a video with us – a message from our people to the world.
✨ Conservation is not new to us as Indigenous people. For centuries, our ancestors have protected and defended these forests, not just as land, but as life itself. Today, we continue that fight, because our forests mean more than trees to us:
They provide us with food, medicine, and clean water.
They are our shield against climate change.
They safeguard our culture, identity, and ancestral wisdom.
They ensure a future for our children and generations yet to come.
In Wapichan Wiizi, we have proposed to conserve the Eastern side of our forest, with hopeful and determined hearts that this vision will soon be recognized. ✨
Because when we conserve our forests, we conserve our lives, our culture, and the very balance of our Earth.
